"This is an incredibly good CD in terms of Brown's conceptual approach. The whole first side of the original album was really a personal meditation about religion, Heaven, Hell, and sin. I believe Brown has one of the most versatile voices in terms of his singing. His range of expression is truly magnificent. Keep in mind that the production & instrumentation seems a little dated, but given that, using a metaphor from the album, the songs here really "BURN"! Personally, I think FANFARE/FIRE-POEM and TIME are at least as good or better than the big hit FIRE.By the way, the personnel on the album are Carl Palmer of ELP on drums, and Vincent Crane, who went on to form Atomic Rooster (check out "On Hearing of" by the same) on organ. Production was by the same folks who produced the WHO. In fact, Brown was featured as the priest in TOMMY, and went on to sing on the first Alan Parsons release. If you like Brown's voice, try checking out his space rock masterpiece JOURNEY. If "Crazy World" sounds dated, "Journey" is a step into the future and still far ahead of it's time (think space rock Pink Floyd)."
