CD Reviews

Even NON-Disco Fans Will Dig This. Surprisingly Excellent!

"I was never a particular fan of disco music. I liked some of the songs...many of them were just awful & in our faces for too many hours of each day...BUT...the songs that were selected for this movie were superb. They pulled what was quite a cheap film into a different stratosphere.

Boz Scaggs' best songs, Donna Summers' best songs, Diana Ross's sexy: 'Love Hangover'...whoever chose the music for this movie knew what he was doing. Shame the guys who made the retrospective '90's movies about the '70's disco scene, didn't take a leaf out of his book.

I especially liked the wonderful Bill Withers song: 'She's Lonely' & still love it to this day. It was originally just a 'B' side but it's brought to it's well deserved life by this picture. I'd recommend this album to people for that track alone. Plus the FANTASTIC O'Jays (also their best song) 'Backstabbers.'

The excellent theme song by Marlena Shaw is melancholic & powerful.

A top notch collection!"
What a movie ... what a soundtrack!

"This is terrific in all respects. It's great to FINALLY see "Dont Ask to Stay..." on CD after all these years ... the only bummer? I am sad that "Could It Be Magic" is the closer here because it's the complete version in all of its' glory & it's so sad to hear it painfully fade away and have a close to the album (that's what I bought Donna's "A Love Trilogy" for). This was quite the contreversial film back in 1977, but boy does every song here match the scene they're used in perfectly! The songs are fantastic and you will enjoy this ... give it a chance!"
A goodbar soundtrack

"Practically all the tunes are catchy. Also, each and every song is heard in the film. The songs match the films content. Sound quality could be better- don't think this was digitally remastered."
