"This is it!! There is finally a listing!! In my review of Piazzolla's Octeto Buenos Aires some months ago, I mentioned that there was a second album recorded by Piazzolla in 1955 and that one should buy it on sight. Well here is your chance!!
I can't praise this CD enough, every song is a masterpiece and the album deserves many more stars than I can give it here. I don't offer superlatives lightly but if I could keep only one of the thousands of recordings I own, this would likely be the one.The bandoneon and arrangements of Astor Piazzolla, the jazz piano of Martial Solal, and the Orchestra of the Paris Opera come together to produce this album of sublime sophistication and ineffable romance. I frequently listen to it all day.
As hard as it is to pick favorites, Chau Paris, Preparense, S.V.P, Imperial, Guardia Nueva, and Marron Y Azul stand out in this tour de force. The other compositions are nearly as good and stand head and shoulders above their musical contemporaries.
If you have problems finding this CD, click on my name and e-mail me, I may be able to help. Paris 1955 is the apotheosis of tango romance and as such is an album I feel that every lover of good music and especially every lover of tango should own."
