CD ReviewsAbusing the Cookie Monster... Rockin' Old Geezer | Austin Texas | 08/12/2009 (3 out of 5 stars) "Well...what can you say? I bought this CD on accident back in 04. I'm an older dude and this was the first CD I ever owned with harsh vocals. This really isn't the group you'd want to break in with on the harsh vocal thing. Although I had heard the term cookie monster vocals this is the only group that really seemed to cough the mofo up and it sounded like they were doing all sorts of horrible things to him too. I didn't know whether to laugh at it or be pissed because I wasted the money.
I listened to it a couple of times and noticed the music minus the harsh vocals was enjoyable...nothing brand new but the clean vocalist sounded a bit like Ozzy, the drums and bass reminded me of old Deep Purple to a degree, and the guitars were pretty decent. Over the years this CD has stayed in my rotation. Although the vocals and some of the lyrics can make you cringe this CD does rock. The songs are mainly uptempo and just sort of haul you along with them. It has some major flaws but it rocks hard enough. " |
