CD Reviews

Very good&enjoyable heavy metal

"My decision to buy this album was almost random. I was looking to expand my metal library with something new, and I noted this album. I bought it at a metal concert I've been to, giving Axxis a try.

I liked it right from the first time I've heard it. The playing is heavy just in the right amount for the songs, and is fast for most parts. There is great coordination and harmony between the instruments and vocals, which result in great, fun songs. The vocals are not deep and heavy, but make no mistake- Bernhard Weiss, the vocalist, has a good, powerful voice that fits the songs in this album perfectly. They will never miss an opportunity for a solo, either-not a chance. There is one on each song, except "don't leave me", the ballad, in which the guitar is acoustic. The solos start great and end smoothly as the singing and the music of the song resumes.

Axxis obviously posses a strong affinity to rock, and you can feel it in their style, but the playing is, as I mentioned earlier, clearly heavy metal.

Lakonia adds female vocals to this album. It is great that Axxis added her. She got a good voice that fits this album well. The combination of her vocals with Weiss's sounds terrific. In some songs she supports his singing, in others she has longer parts (she sings in most songs, actually, not as stated above). She also wrote two songs here, "Take My Hand" and "Gods of Rain"- both great.

I can't find any weaknesses in this CD. I enjoy all its songs, but if I will have to choose a favorite, it would probably be "Tales of Glory Island".

I certainly recommend melodic heavy metal fans to give it a try.
