CD ReviewsNot Aya of Strange Flower Y. Yuin | 06/01/2005 (1 out of 5 stars) "This isn't really a review, more like a cautionary note. This is not our sweet Aya that made Strange Flower, it's in fact a japanese rock artist! They just happen to have the same name and for some reason Cdnow decided to group them together. So...thats that!" Aya Kicks Ass Nichole R | United States | 09/27/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "I first heard Aya's music on some random mp3 site, and was blown away. At the time the only J-rock female artist I really knew about was Tsukiko Amano. I was excited to finally hear another great rock album. Aya was inspired by grunge bands of the early 90s like Nirvana. Her first album Senju no Hana was actually recorded in Seattle. That album you can imagine was a heavy rock, grunge album. For her second album Aya decided to use her own band instead of the musicians from Nirvana, and the Fu Fighters. Aya just keeps getting better and better with each release. Baghdad Sky is probably not only her best, but most emotional album to date. The songs range from heavy rock such as Nobody, and Betty to beautiful ballads like Shadows on the Road, and Baghdad Sky. The first track Blue Butterfly, is entirely in English. It is an epic song with great guitar solos. Overall Aya's music is definately worth the time to listen. She may not be very popular, but that doesn't mean she's not good. This German version is a bonus, because the last six tracks are from her second mini-album. It's almost like getting two albums in one package." Fantastic! J-Music Fan | 06/07/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "Aya's albums continue to get better and better, and produces great rock music. For those who are not familiar with AYA, she is a J-Rock artist who collaborates with other musicians like Matt Cameron (Soundgarden, Pearl Jam) and Krist Novoselic (Nirvana). Ignore the 1 star rating, this album is WAY better than what that rating got. My favorite tracks off this album are "NOBODY", "Blue Butterfly", and "Betty". Sure, she is not really that popular in Japan, but she produces great music!"
