"I listen to hundreds of blues CD's a year, and comment on very few of them. If you have come this far, and are interested in Aynsley's music, buy this CD. He writes some great blues/rock tunes and has a suprisingly mature sound. He also does a few covers - an amazing version of Little Wing that moves into a hidden acoustic track that smokes."
Absolutely fabulous!

"Aynsley has a unique and bold talent. He has a very talented ear, since he taught himself by listening to his Dad's old records. I was very impressed with this young lad's mature song style and attitude. Well worth the money!"

"A very good record of this thirty one year old musician that besides singing well plays the guitar wonderfully, in a style similar to Kenny Wayne Shepherd (who by the way has just published a great record, "10 Days Out"). Lister began to play guitar at eight and has now already an extended discography, but I think this record is the best of his production. It's not strictly a Blues album, you can notice it with the themes "Without u" and "In the beginning", the rest of the songs never go too far away from the "twelve time rhythm" performed in a personal way which gives him an artistic identity. The first track, which gives its name to the record, has a marvellous riff-rock; the catchy "Angel of mind", is a good theme similar to Tony Joe White's "As the crow Flies"; there are great Blues-Funky songs, "Soundman" and "I believe"; a superb slow Blues "Need her so bad"; the genial shuffle "Quiet boy"; and a competent solo electric version of Hendrix's classic "Little wing". This is really a record to enjoy. I recommend it."

"Lister is a great guitar player no doubt. Some great chops on this album too! However he see tries to cover too many styles of music with this effort that you end up not sure what to think. Now, I favor blues music, but like rock or folky style stuff too. When you mix pop in there I start to wonder - it sure is more than everything I need. I hope he, with future releases, will continue to hone in on HIS style. I will continue listen for it. All this being said, I DO recommend this CD - 50% of the songs on here are really good."
One of the last year's best

"He's the light at the beginning of the tunnel. The tunnel of despair, marked by flickering lights of humor, hope, virtuosity and short-term escape is a big part of the trip one takes on the Midnight Special, the Hellbound Train, the Mystery Train, down where the Southern crosses the Dog ... the train of the blues. At the other end of the tunnel, well, that's where the sun is going to shine on my back door someday. In the meantime, I'll get solace from the humor, hope, virtuosity and short-term escape that exquisite players, singers and band leaders like Aynsley Lister provide.
This is one of the best electric blues releases to cross this critic's desktop in the last year. What else can I say?"
