A wonderful CD

"These are superb performances of two important compositions - simultaneously compressed and expansive, incredibly detailed but really very accessible. Babbitt's solo works, and compositions for small groups of instruments, yield particularly well to even the slightest attempt to listen attentively. These two pieces have real grace and charm, and I'd recommend them to anybody."

"I love these pieces, though they are some of the more difficult pieces to understand by Babbitt.I also think that the fat vibrato in Rolf Schulte's playing is inappropriate for Babbitt's music--it is too expressionistic, and Babbitt's music is not expressionistic! It has to be lithe and fleet in a jazzy vein. Babbitt is an American composer.I still give this 5 stars--I love this recording."
