"A post British invasion band with the powerhouse female vocals of Juanita Hahn. Babe Ruth is an exlectic range of good driving British Funk, Rock, and even some cool subtle overtones of Mexican folk. An intramental cover of "A Fist Full of Dollars" shows how this band can take any type of material and bend it to their own unique sound. Tracks such as "Duchess of Orleans", "Turquoise" and "We People Who Are Darker Than Blue" have a Spanish/Mexican jazzy feel and Juanita's voice softens to meet the mood.Babe Ruth was at the top of the charts in UK and Canada in the early 70's and I can't understand why they aren't getting any radio play on classic rock stations. CDs are hard to come by. One of my favourite bands of the time, their music still sounds fresh.This was their second or third LP, and a great followup to the driving rock sound of their Debut LP Babe Ruth First Base. - a classic onto itself. When Juanita is rocking, she can provide the power of a female Jimmy Page, and when she is sweet and quiet, she can evoke the sounds of ballad singer."

"Babe Ruth, Rory Gallagher and Wishbone Ash are just a few of the performers that came out of the 70's that are still virtually unknown in the U.S.
I have a copy of this Babe Ruth on vinyl, picking it up over 20 years ago in the discount rack at some forgotten department store. Although I had never heard of them, 1.99 wasn't much to spend to take a risk. The album is still one of my favorites as I admire the diversity of the music: staight ahead rock, black soul, mexican inspired movie theme music and Jenny Haan-powerful,soulful and gentle.
As I am late in discovering that they are now on CD, I am looking forward to listening to them digitally while displaying the album cover with its larger pictures of the band."

A band that deserves more attention

"Babe Ruth, for some reason, had a following in Dayton, Ohio, in the early 70s. I saw them perform live on at least two occasions at Hara Arena, in Dayton, when I lived there. Those remain two of the most memorable concerts of my youth. Jenny Haan was not only an exciting performer to watch (acrobatic almost--a female Mick Jagger), but also a fine vocalist. At times she is every bit as powerful as Janis Joplin. The band was tight and offered an interesting variety of sounds. I recently picked up an old LP copy of this at a garage sale, replacing the one I bought new years ago. The music holds up well after all these years. This is a band that deserves more recognition, in my view."
