"This is a limited edition and getting hard to find so I suggest you snap it up immediately. These are tremendous performances. The sheer beauty of it all is terribly moving. The choir has a unique sound, quite diffferent from European ensembles and their discipline is something to behold. Suzuki's approach is quite unusual, especially with the more dramatic pieces. The emotion is somewhat withheld and restrained and makes itself apparent gradually. Not all bangs and whistles but quite contemplation. It is, dare I say it, very Japanese. Sometimes I wish for larger numbers in the choir to create a sense of grandeur, but there are other recordings which do this.
This is a bargain and comes with extensive, helpful notes which explain the history of the works and Suzuki's approach. Doozo, kiite kudasai."
