"An excellent reference recording, Rousset's tempi leave plenty of room for the music to breathe, and the timbre of the Ruckers original used here is absolutely enchanting. Although the tempi of the allemandes are entirely appropriate, listeners accustomed to a more rapid clip may take issue. I found most of the slower dances to be quite affecting, especially the Sarabande in the d minor suite. Rousset also makes good use of registrastion changes to showcase this amazing instrument, and it helps a bit with the music as well, although personally I could take or leave most of them. The album is beautifully packaged with lots of great photos and good notes - as it had better be for the astronomical price."
