CD ReviewsBalls To The Wall, Hard Rockin' Quality, But Not Quantity "The Woj" | Downers Grove, IL | 10/28/2004 (4 out of 5 stars) "This album has the fury of the MC5 blended with an "Over The Top" metal edge (Motorhead); and this time around throw in a few Thin Lizzy-ish twin guitar melodies for good measure. Imagine a gravel-throated Iggy fronting Motorhead with several songs written by Phil Lynott...I can't, but just imagine it okay? (As a side note, anyone old enough to remember the band Moby Grape and their classic song "Omaha", I hear a little bit of that influence on this album also). Flat out blows away corporate pretender bands like Von Bondies, Mooney Suzuki & The Hives. Your mommy might let you listen to those cds, but she'll tell you to turn this one way down or throw it away.
These guys & gals are obviously heavily influenced by 60's & 70's Motor City Rock as well as 70's hard rockers like Thin Lizzy; but they are also into 30 minute long albums. Hence the 4 instead of 5 star review. In the days where the medium can hold 70 minutes of music and cost a couple hours pay for most fans, buyers deserve more for their money than an EPs worth of material. My advise is to go the used route and save some cash. Shame on you BW for no live or bonus tracks. " |
