Synopsis

Album Description
The latest release from Baillie & The Boys is a songwriter's showcase and a vocal delight. This 12 song collection, exploring the fragility and power of love relationships, takes us down a pathway of emotion. Few lead singers can deliver this type of material better than Kathie Baillie, whose ditinctive voice inhabits these songs with conviction and warmth. Baillie or husband Michael Bonagura, who produced the album, co-wrote seven of the songs on the CD. The album conveys a feeling of intimacy and is tastefully arranged with a clean acoustic approach that demonstrates the simple power of a great song. Baillie & the Boys' trademark harmonies, subtle acoustic guitar, piano and bass unite with Baillie's rich lead vocals to deliver these songs with elegance. Some of Nashville's leading songwriters are featured here and the lyrics and melodies wrap around each other seamlessly. "The Road That Led Me To You" is the sixth album from Baillie & The Boys and demonstrates why the group has four CMA award nominations as well as numerous hit singles. The understated acoustic approach on the CD only adds to the intimacy in this beautiful collection of songs.

CD Reviews

My Ears Say "Thank You"!
Gary Stone | Nashville, TN USA | 03/29/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I admit I have been a long-time fan, but for some reason, after the long hiatus from the last album, I almost forgot how good this group really is !This album is just superb, with Kathie's soaring, crying, caressing, and heart-healing lead vocals better than ever (Is there a more emotional and musically gifted singer in Nashville?--I dont think so.)Listen to "The Moment",an instant classic, and try not to get a chill. Listen to the harmonies from "the boys" on "Far Cry From Him" and tell me if any group, with the possible exception of The Eagles, can make them take flight into heaven like Baillie +the Boys can.And how 'bout the intimacy and sonic perfection of "Nobody Here To Love" ? As Billboard's reviewer said in the latest issue---"If there was any justice in the industry, this would be a platinum album". Pure and simple--if you love beautifully constructed songs, lush harmonies and an indescribably breathtaking female lead, you should check out this gem of an album!!!!"

"Just when you think that you've heard their best...here they come with one better! Even their old songs demand to be heard again. Kathies voice is stronger and sweeter than ever..when she sings "The Moment" she is really at her best! The harmony of Baillie and the Boys is outstanding!"
Baillie & The Boys - "Almost Unplugged"
Ron Bailey | Johnson City, NY | 03/18/2000

"Don't ever tell me guys don't cry! I enjoy Baillie and the Boys as much as anyone, and love to sing along. If you "get into" your music as I do, while listening or singing along with this CD, you'll find a tear in your eyes...I promise. I found this collection of songs really showcased Kathie Baillie's voice by using less electric back up. As always, rich harmonies from "the Boys" placed the icing on the cake with this CD. If you're sentimental (which I am), buy this CD, get comfortable and alone (or with one you love), crank up the volume, and I'll bet you find a tear in your eye before too long. Michael Bonagura has produced a winner in this one. (How could he miss working with a voice like Kathie Baillies?)"
