CD ReviewsOne of those "must have" albums 12/17/2002 (5 out of 5 stars) "If you're interested in horror punk at all, you've probably heard of Japan's Balzac. They've been around for 10 years now and they're starting to build up a sizeable American audience in addition to their huge Japanese following. This album is their third and, quite possibly, best. This is a modern day "Walk Among Us." Although this album's shorter than most of the others, the music contained within is jaw droppingly good! They combine a visual style that resembles the Misfits and the Damned along with a musical structure of both, adding insane amounts of melodicism to the raging punk rock. They also have a knack for incorporating industrial sounds into their brand of punk. I think they refer to it in Japan as "digital hardcore"(made popular by the Mad Capsule Markets). Each song is a gem, which makes this album essential. The songs included are "Atomic-Age", "Nowhere #13", "Sad nos. 99", "Legacy II", "Tomorrow", "The Slaughter House", "Destruction Another Wall", and "The Bleeding Light." People swear by this album. Buy it and find out what you're missing." My own review. Janet | Texas | 12/12/2002 (4 out of 5 stars) "Balzac is a talented group, and a good example of J-Rock. Your own opinion, of course, is the only thing you should consider concerning purchase of this. However, those who are not familiar with J-Rock or pick this up expecting similarities to american metal or grindcore ... might be disappointed. Explore some aspects of J-Rock like Glay, X-Japan, or anything of the sort before going for an impulse buy like the creator of the other review did."
