CD ReviewsEastern Adriatic Sky John E. Koontz | Lafayette, CO USA | 12/10/2000 (4 out of 5 stars) "Note that the name of the CD is Intensity!, not Intensiy. .... This is another finely crafted effort from Pavicic, Tomljanovic, Furlan, and Zaborac, this time produced by Bojan Kotzmuth at Dvor Studios. The sound is perhaps a little less plummy than than Dumb Loud Hollow Twang, and I notice the bass more. Actually, I notice how good the bass is. The drums, too. Surf drumming is often more characterized by vigor and enthusiasm than anything else, but Zaborac displays the subtlety and finesse characteristic of this group. I notice two things about this album, the first being the use of more folk or non-rock roots numbers. This is particularly evident in Central Coast Swing, Napuljska Gitara (credited as traditional), and Chase, but also in the torrid Tempted and even Invasion of the Reverb Snatchers. Of course, surf music has always been like jazz in this willingness to apply its own spin to material from other genres. The other notable feature of this CD is the inclusion of two traditional surf numbers, Dick Dale's The Wedge and Nunes & Hilder's Latinia. The latter is the standout number of the CD. The Molesters' slow, fuzzed handling of this number transforms it from an Andalusian riff to a somber number that calls to mind armored vehicles idling engines in a landscape of dull skies and burning villages. ...."
