CD ReviewsAWESOME FUNK!!! raygu | south carolina | 06/07/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "If james brown was the hardest working man in show business, then the barkays were the hardest working band in show business. They were truly one of the most underrated bands in the business. They toured with all the bad bands of their time including fellow funk cousins confunkshun and cameo. It is legend that a lot of big name r&b bands were scared to follow the barkays on stage because of their all out funk assault live on stage. Lead singer Larry Dodson was and still is one of the most electrifying performers on stage. Their 1982 Propositions release is a masterpiece which followed another masterpiece Night Cruising.I will be on cloud nine the day that is released on cd. Funk fans if you like your funk sizzling get this release. The title cut opens this sizzling cd as the band often opened their shows in the 80's with this cut turning it into a funk rock anthem. It is followed by the equally funky Trippin Out and then one of the finest ballads ever recorded by the band Anticipation. Besides Anticipation, the other hot singles released from this cd were the barkays funk classics Do It(Let Me See You Shake)and the rump shaking She Talks To Me With Her Body. The cd closes with another fine ballad I Can't Believe You're Leaving Me and another funky tune called You Made A Change In My Life. I have always been and still a fan of the barkays. The barkays are truly funk legends. Founder James Alexander is one of the baddest bassist of all time who was part of the original barkays lineup that played for the late great otis redding(Four members tragically perished in a plane crash with redding before alexander reformed the band in 1969). If you like your funk to stank, then pick up the barkays propositions." The Bar-Kays are "Trippin' Out" Glen Zimmerman | West Bumblefuch, USA | 10/30/2007 (5 out of 5 stars) "More than a decade into their career as one of the most popular and successful funk groups ever, the Bar-Kays do a good job adapting to the changing times without ruining the tight, funky grooves that have become what they're best known for. This album contains the hit "She Talks To Me With Her Body" and the wicked-pumping "Trippin' Out". The Bar-Kays were also equally good at smooth slow jams, and they lay down a great one here with the guitar-heavy, almost country-ish "Anticipation"." Bar-Kays best work! G. Leanos | 04/08/2008 (5 out of 5 stars) "Hands down, this CD is one of the best olskool/funk albums I own! It's got the best Bar-Kays' songs ever produced! The album cover is hot and so is the musik! I must have for all that appreciate funk jams!"
