CD ReviewsBargain music does it again! drillsgtsandusky | salem, oregon United States | 11/04/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "I've been a bargain music fan for sometime now, and my only complaint has been the bland generic raps of skelliton man. fortuniately Josh Fishel and the boys seem to have moved in a difforent direction with this album and excluded him all together. this album is chaulk full of the soulfull accustic and ragae ballads that we've all come to expect from bargain music. mixed with a varity of rock offerings that give the album "just push playability" all in all, the best album so far" Not quite the same as before, but still entertaining C. G. Liebe | Malmö, Sweden | 09/09/2003 (3 out of 5 stars) "Through 77 003 through Cook The Beans and now The Magic Is Over, I would never have expected such a change in the band's style. The ballads with a touch of reggae of the first album to the more harsh and alternative-like rock songs ("Psychotic Sleepover", "Used To Be", "Hell No") on the new album is somewhat dissappointing (to a fan of the old style they brought with them before - is the magic really over?). This, sometimes, aggressive rock is too fast. But it's my guess all bands must innovate to stay popular. There are quiet ballads like "Crank" and "Drinking With Trey" on The Magic Is Over. Unfortunately there is a minimum amount of dub ballads (2 to be exact). So for a first time impression of Bargain Music - get the earlier albums, wait a while, then buy this one. But it must be said that the songs on this album has great lyrics, like in songs from previous releases - Where does the inspiration come from, to write these fresh and funky lyrics? They are simply put entertaining."
