"This is my second "First Review" today. That tells me that I either have a bunch of hard-to-find CD's in my collection, or that 90% of my CD collection consists of crap no one else was dumb enough to buy??!



I love the Wild Man, and when his CD's were recently re-issued I snapped them up. "Pronounced Normal" was the firt collaboration between Fischer and B&B. I loved the album, and wanted to see what Barnes and Barnes had to offer away from the Wild Man, so I picked up "Loozanteen".



"Loozanteen" came out almost a decade after their work with Wild Man Fischer, and about 15 years after their "Fish Heads" hit. If B & B ever had a "prime", they were well past it at this point. "Loozanteen" is chock full of keyboard, wall-of-sound, type tunes, none of which are goofy enough to be considered novelty songs, even though they try, and they sure aren't good enough to be taken seriously. It's like witty 10th graders creating rhymes and having access to really good production equipment. Nothing really stands out as particularly clever. With 18 tracks it all gets pretty dull after about the 5th tune, then the disk becomes a chore to listen to. To be perfectly honest, tunes like "Touch Yourself" and "Back Ground Man" are kind of gross considering Will Robinson is singing them and I don't care if he is sporting a Simon & Simon moustache on the album's liner notes!



I was hoping to discover something new or fun with the album, but instead got an extremely watered down version of a bad "They Might Be Giants" album. As it is, unless you have a morbid curiosity to hear Bill Mumy sing and can find this for under $2, pick it up...otherwise just ban it to the cornfield."
