This was the first non compilation beach boys' album i bough

"i first bought smiley smile on cassette and loved it. years later, i re bought the album in cd format as a twofer with another album of theirs i didn't have, wild honey. wild honey is also a great album. both of these records are more of a back to basics sound for the beach boys as opposed to the lush arrangements demonstrated on pet sounds and today albums. those records are great in their own right but smiley smile has a bad rap with a lot of bb fans because it was replaced in lieu of the lost smile album. i love both, each on their own terms. also, the bonus songs at the end of the c.d. are awesome. i highly recommend this purchase to anyone who love beach boys music and is ready to venture beyond just a 'greatest hits' compilation and pet sounds."
