CD Reviews

"Ask me another!"

(3 out of 5 stars)

"First of all, unless someone had tampered with the contents prior to my purchase (which the company Chrome Dreams assured me otherwise when I emailed them about it), there are indeed three CDs in The Beatles Chatterbox but most certainly NOT three hours of recorded material as promised on the outside.
There WOULD have been over three hours maybe if Talkology CD 2 was included in the box along with Talkology CD 1 and Talkology 3 (each of the latter CDs having over an hour's worth of stuff on them).
Instead, though, the second CD (titled RINGO INTERVIEWS) is only sixteen minutes long and, unlike the other two CDs, is shoddily presented (coming even with a warning..'the lifespan of this CD may not be the same as a normal CD').
Ah well...after all, it does say on the box, 'not authorised by the artist, their record company or management' so we can almost expect something lacking ultimately.
Never mind....it was disappointing to be duped but then, with two and a half hours worth of Beatles press conferences and interviews still to listen to, who's fussy?
I can also forgive them for the mixed audio quality throughout which render a lot of questions from the press audible. These are amateur recordings, it seems, from 1964-66 after all. However, bunging them on CD hardly qualifies as being 'remastered'...yes, these are new masters but nothing sounds like it was sonically cleaned up in the process.So...after all this complaining are there ANY good things about The Beatles Chatterbox??
Yes...there are are!
Four of them....John, Paul, George and Ringo!Stick your headphones on (to catch any Beatle mutterings or utterances missed when listening through speakers), sit back, close your eyes and you're transported back in time!!
Beatles on tour joking, jibing and juggling with questions from the stiff Press people (muffled screams of kids outside....no really!) at the height of Beatlemania....and previously unheard, most of it!!Who can complain, really??"
