"The Beau Brummels' first album for Warner Brothers was a major artistic and commercial disappointment. Warner Brothers asked the group to record a cover album of the hits of day, although the record company had acquired the Brummels' complete recorded output - released and unreleased - after Autumn faltered. There was enough original material recorded that would have filled an excellent third album.

My advise for completists: Buy it when you already have everything else."

"Realistically I give this item 4 stars, but I am adding an extra star to make up for the other unfair poor reviews. I've been a Beau Brummels fan since I first heard "Laugh Laugh" decades ago, and have all their recordings. While this is certainly far from their best, I've always found it to be an enjoyable and refreshing take on some of the classics on the record. Especially after 40 plus years of hearing these songs time and time again, it's nice to hear the Brummels moody take on them. To be sure, not every cut is a winner, but I've always enjoyed

Sal's unique vocals and the group's take on "Homeward Bound", "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away", yes and even Bang Bang and others. If you're a Beau Brummels fan, do not be afraid to add this to your collection. I think you'll enjoy it regardless of it's history of being criticized. Too many people subscribe to critical snobbery. Just because it came between their awesomne early years on Autumn records (where they did no wrong in my book)and their critically acclaimed pair of WB albums (Triangle and Bradley's Barn) should be reason enough to investigate it as a transitional experiment. And it was an experiment that, quite frankly, sounds pretty good to me."
