This is the 1970 Decca recording, NOT the 1997 DG

"The Amazon page here gives no indication of the label or year of recording (they never give the latter, annoyingly). I wanted the digital DG recording of Bruckner's First from 1997, so I rolled the dice (I wasn't even sure if there was another recording). I lost. This is a recording from 1970 on Decca, like the DG version with the Vienna Philharmonic. It's pretty good, but has poorer sound, somewhat crude brass playing, and is generally not as sizzlin' as the later DG version, especially in the awesome scherzo. As always, it's the better version that is out of print. Stupid record companies.
The Beethoven's 8th (ho hum performance) is with the same orchestra and from 1972."
