"I picked up Belinda when teaching myself the Spanish language. I thought listening to some music would help. I am not sure it did, but I have enjoyed Belinda's previous two releases. This one is the strongest one yet, a natural continuation of where Utopia went relative to her self-titled CD. Her voice seems much more trained, or perhaps she knows her limits better, but I do kind of miss the off-key vocalizations in something like "Luz Sin Gravidad" which drove the song home for me (intentional or not). Well, I guess you can't have everything, even in pop rock. The improvement was worth the cost.



Why no lyrics???



The CD opens very strong for many songs, but around what would be the second song on side two of a tape (hey, it's still how I picture music) I think the CD gets a little "filler." I find myself skipping tracks on my MP3 player.



Amor Transgenico, Egoista, Dopamina, Culpable, and Lolita are extremely strong in my opinion, well worth the price of the CD. To me, Cuida de Mi is a little uninspired, and Mi Religion is kind of derivative (in a bad way) and dull pop. But Wacko and the rest picks back up again. I am not sure I care too much for Sal de Mi Piel but I don't skip it.



So, overall it's a 4-star release. Really worth getting, but there's room for improvement."

Belinda does it again...another fine piece of work

"I've been a Belinda fan FOR YEARS. I won't bore you with the story of how I stumbled upon her music, but I've been a fan since her telenovela days. Her last album, 'Utopia' was a mature change in the right direction full of deep and sometimes dark and emotional songs. I loved it. Now, Beli returns almost 4 years later with new music and may I say this was worth the wait! I can't review every single song (we would be here all day if I did.) :) , but I will recommend some of my favorites.





Cuida de Mi-10/5- Basically, the best song Belinda has ever written. It's about her late grandfather and the lyrics are very emotional and deep. The music on this one is beautiful too.



Wacko-4/5. A fun energtic song with a great beat. I'm not sure of Wacko's meaning in Spanish (I know Wacko is slang for crazy in English, but I think this is one case where translation between the two languages gets a little messy because the lyrics don't really make sense. Maybe this should have been in both English and Spanish.) but it's a fun song. I really want to see Belinda perform this one live.



Guia- 5/5. Another beautiful ballad with an amazing intro. This one was written about protecting the planet.



Dopomina-5/5. Electronic maddness! This is excellent. The chorus is the best part.



Culpable-5/5. The intro on this song is sick!!!! This is one case where autotune actually works in a song.



Maldita Suerte-5/5. Oh, this song is on fire! It has the perfect blend of bossa meets salsa vibes and the lyrics (although I can't really understand them.) are cool. This one was written for her fans in Brazil and it sounds very Brazilian too.



The only song I wasn't too big on was Lolita. I had heard clips on Beli's latest novela and thought, 'wow, this will be so good!'. However, listening to the full version was a big letdown. I don't like the chrous very much. It's a little strange, but the verses are good. 3/5.



Also, Mi Religion was another song that was a short clip on Belinda' latest novela. This song was a little dull at times, but I enjoyed most of it.



As usual, Belinda served as a writer or cowriter on all of the tracks. She even wrote and composed the music for the song 'Sal de mi Piel', which was the opening intro to her lastest novela, but also a really pretty song. I can honestly say with true confindence that Belinda is one of Mexico's strongest artists. This album really proves that she 'is in the game' to make amazing inspiring music and isn't in the business just to release a CD of shallow mediocre tunes. Definitely, one of the few great standouts from the telenovela scene as an actress tuned singer. On this album, you can really tell that Belinda is passionate about her music and she really shows off her vocals in Cuida de Mi and Guia too. 'Utopia' was a really good album lyrically and beast this one, but 'Carpe Diem' wins as far as creativity and maturity go. This album is absolutely perfect for old Belinda fans, but new ones will also enjoy it too. (Then pick up, 'Utopia' because you will definitely see Belinda's growth in songwriting and maturity over the last 4 years. ) You will not be disappointed! This album was at least one song, even English speakers will enjoy."
