"It is the first complete recording of Bellini's very first opera, written in his last conservatory year. The music is very fine, though somewhat immature. There are some too long recitatives, especially in the second act. What surprizes in this opera from the ouverture is how much music Bellini used later in his masterpieces - Il Pirata and I Capuleti e i Montecchi. It is the only work by Bellini containing a great deal of comic element, that is interesting by itself. If you love Bellini, by it."
