CD ReviewsFINE ALBUM FROM A NEW KEYBOARD WIZARD M. J. Lacomme | Sevres, France | 02/20/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "This is the second Benjie Porecki album for Severn records after the wonderful "Serving it up". He has great musicians again with Keter Betts on bass and Robb Stupka on drums. This time the mood is a bit different as the songs are mostly ballads played on the piano. Porecki burns and builds on the splendid opener "Give you all my love". He is lyrical on Stevie Wonder's "Seems so long ", funky on "Walking with a new step". The superb "Desperado" with great piano-organ interplay sounds like a gospel song. The only up-tempo track is the grooving "Give of yourself" played on the B3. Chuck Brown sings soulfully on the beautiful "Here's to life", and "The rest of my life" features the singing alto of Skip Pruitt. There is also a touch of funk ("Bama") and reggae (Burnin' and Lootin').
I am eagerly waiting for Benjie Porecki next album !" |
