"For those that don't know what this is,,,,,,it's essentially smooth electronic jazz, but all the sounds were created by sampling sounds made by animals. Thus the kick drum sound comes from the wing-whir of the Ruffed Grouse, the "singing" from a parrot at the San Diego Zoo, and all the other "instruments" created from the sounds of wildlife. The liner notes explain where each instrument sound came from in each song.
A fascinating idea, well executed, very listenable and fun."

"This is really wonderful both in concept and execution. I too downloaded it after having owned the album. Unfortunately Amazon does not include the liner notes. Does anyone here have them? I am particularly interested in where the synthesizer sound comes from."
A classic!

"It's neat to see people discovering this CD in the 90's. I first heard it when it first came out, as Schoolkid's Records here in Ann Arbor MI had it featured soon as they got it. It was a bargain for what it truly is-even now, 14 years later, very listenable and current-sounding. I completely wore out my tape of it and had to buy the CD of it recently. These critters were ahead of their time! Give this a play and then call your local smooth jazz station and DEMAND they play something from "Gorillas in the Mix!" You will love the howling wolves and Turkey Corwin, parrot star of the San Diego Zoo!"

"I first heard cuts from this album when I was visiting Sea World of Florida in 1993. Several of the selections were featured in Sea World's Whale and Dolphin Discovery Cove Show. After the show I asked about the selections, but the sound tech didn't know the artist or album name. Some 3 years later, I heard the same music as background music during a local radio ad. I called the radio station and asked the DJ what the music was and I was forwarded to the program director...who finally told me that it was Krause. It's a feel good CD that comes highly recommended as an uptempo combo of new age and jazz and calypso..."
