Excellent compilation of Faure's orchestral works

"Faure wrote and published relatively few orchestral works, but those that he did were masterpieces of Gallic charm and elegance. This CD offers many of these hard-to-find works, and it is well recorded and performed, from the jaunty Masques et Bergamasques, the serene Pavane, the magical Dolly Suite (a precursor to Debussy's own Children's Corner), the beauty of Shylock, the ethereal grace of Pelleas et Melisande and his famous Requiem. Faure, a retiscent man, is a much underated composer. His choral works, solo piano works, and many songs aptly demonstrate his genius for creating beautiful melodies that stand the test of time and touch us today. And it was Faure, more than any other man, who provided the bridge between the traditional classical styles of Chabrier and Saint-Saens (his teacher) and the French Impressionism of Debussy and Ravel (his student)."
Absolutely gorgeous!

"This is an absolutely lovely compilation of Faure's music. Beautifully orchestrated! The CD has great sound, very clear and the recordings are wonderful. Without a doubt one of my new favorite CDs! All the songs are brilliant, but my favorite is Pavane; it is elegant and simple but extremely moving and a bit haunting. This CD would be a welcome addition to any classical music lover's library."
Beautiful music beautifully orchestrated.
