CD Reviews

Totally tough as she mature, but gentle, as a teenager.

(5 out of 5 stars)

"We all know the great stuff Ms. Wright recorded during the '70's after "Clean Up Woman", but "He's Bad, Bad, Bad" and the simply wonderful "Girl Can't Do What the Guy's Do" is the reason why this is a 5-star rating. People don't know that she was not only a late 60's recording artist at around 14 years of age, but that she has a genius IQ level. Her records in 1968-69 are the rare gems."
Got to have it

"Can't get enough of this CD. Betty Wright has been sadly underappreciated over the past few years. But this woman can sing: sexy, sassy, self-assured. Lots of good tracks, but the finest are Hard to Stop and The Babysitter. Give it a try"
Needs more "Tonight is the Night"

"Betty is great -- the singing and arrangements here are superb. However, I was not expecting "Tonight is the Night" to be so extremely foreshortened. It is literally only the "rap": none of the song is sung, but we hear Betty's great back-n-forth with the audience. I don't see the point of putting "Tonight is the Night" on the album at all if you don't get any of the song itself. Since it's one of my favorite tunes, I was really disappointed in this respect. I suppose one must purchase the "Live" album for the full rendention of "Tonight is the Night." Wonder why they did not simply put the studio version on this album -- there must be one out there."
