"These 6 previously unreleased tracks show K.C. Joe doin what he does best -- shoutin' the blues. Most of Joe Turner's Pablo sides showcase the blues singer in fine musical company, the most grand of them all accompanying him on the c.d.'s title track "Stormy Monday." This track comes from the Trumpet Kings album where joe is backed by trumpet giants Roy Eldridge, Dizzy, Clark Terry and Sweets Edison. For over 10 minutes Joe trades phrases with the blowers spouting off chorus after 12-bar chorus. The highlight of the album is Joe's reading of "Time After Time" He pours his heart and soul into this tune showing that he truly could sing anything.I personally like the horn effect of Joe's voice later in his career due to dental problems,,,or lack there of. Never any less feeling or soul, and certainly never any less swingin. These sides show Joe at the height of his powers,,,as he shouts on "Long Way From Home," ,,,"I'm jammin' singin' in the key of C""
