A Truly Great CD!

"This 1995 CD starts with the title song, "He Started To Sing", which immediately hit me right between the eyes with it's depth and truth. This song's message is just what I needed to hear. It has inspired me and has become one of my all-time favorite songs.Other favorites include "It's About Time", "Love Comes And Goes", and "Someone Else". However, there's not a bad song on this CD. "One Love At A Time" is one of those deep and bittersweet songs that touches the heart. And "God Sent Angels" is an unexpected surprise. One the funkier side, there are more horns featured on a couple of songs on this CD than on Bill's other albums, with Tom Saviano, David Boruff, and Gary Grant on "Sex Thang" and being joined by Steve Madaio and Brandon Fields on "Love Is Gonna Find You". Both of these are great. Other artists and musicians on this CD include Jason Scheff, Bruce Gaitsch, Jerry Lopez, Greg Mathieson, Tamara Champlin, Janie Clewer, George Hawkins, Mario Cippolina, Tracy Gabel, Abraham Laboriel, and Billy Ward. I have to admit that "Through It All" is at the top of my favorites list... but this CD, "Mayday", and "Burn Down The Night" are all tied for second. It just depends on my mood.In my opinion, this CD is well worth the price. Truly great music that touches the heart doesn't come along every day. Get it while you can. You'll be glad you did. :-)"

Good, but not great

"This CD really deserves 3 1/2 stars, but it isn't an option. This CD does contain some very good songs. Starting with the title track really gets the listener into the mood of the CD. There are some other good songs like "Love Comes and Goes", "Party Time in D.C." and "One Love at a Time". I really enjoy the funkiness and fun of "Sex Thang". My personal favorite of all of the songs, however is "Southern Serenade", which whenever I listen to it gives me great visuals in my mind the song is that good lyrically. However, the negative of this CD is definitely "Love is Gonna Find You", a very weak song. "God Sent Angels" and "Someone Else" aren't bad, but they don't hold up as well as many of the other songs. This CD doesn't stack up as well as "Through It All" but it certainly is on par with his other works like "Runaway" and "Mayday"."

"Not being a huge fan of Bill's solo projects, this one really caught my attention. This is one of the best solo releases by a member of Chicago. The vocals were dead on and the writing was really strong. The disc also is lacking some of the cheesy home studio sound of many of the band members solo projects, including some of his own. I would argue this is truly one of Champlin's best solo releases."
