Early, but excellent Bill Douglas album

"Kaleidoscope was an early release by Bill Douglas, prior to his innovative use of a choral group and, more recently, incredibly sophisticated percussion (although, there's some great percussion on Brilliant Star). Still, I think that the talented composition and arrangement began right here with this album. My favorite aspect of Bill Douglas albums has always been the fantastic blending of piano with woodwinds and the occasional string. Douglas is a first rate concert musician (plays the bassoon as well as the piano) and only employs concert-level artists in his work. The album cover art is incredibly geeky. Later pics of Bill clearly show that he is an actual human being, quite polished and professional in appearance. My suggestion: BUY the CD (and throw away the cover so your friends won't see it--ha!)."
