"Since this is a Bill Evnas recording and Bill is recognized as a genius, one tends to overlook the sidemen. But take the time to listen to Zoot. The man could play...and he could adapt to any situation. This is not the Zoot of Al and Zoot; this is Zoot playing in Bill Evans world and doing it so very well."
Bill Evans best quintets

"I have already submitted a review on the first part of this multi-session, "Interplay", but not on the rest of this disc. The sessions with Zoot Sims, Jim Hall, Philly Jo Jones and Ron Carter fill out the rest of this disc. If anything one gets to hear the very first version of Evan's beautiful "Time Remembered" and also hard boppish "Funkarillo". According to the notes, this second quintet session was difficult for the individuals involved so perhaps that's why it was held in the can. But imperfections aside, these original Evans pieces are worth hearing and it's a pleasure to hear Bill in a different context outside of the regular trio format."
