Synopsis

Album Description
Digitally remastered and featuring new liner notes by leading jazz writers, the Warner Jazz Masters Series includes best sellers as well as rare, sought-after gems. "New Conversations" is Bill Evans' third and final recording of overdubbed solos and differs from the previous two in that he utilises an electric piano in addition to his acoustic playing. The album includes four of his later originals, compositions by Cy Coleman, Cole Porter and Duke Ellington, as well as ?Nobody Else But Me?.

CD Reviews

Eloquence, Elegance,, Evans........

"I had never heard of Bill evans up until 2 years ago, it was then i heard Blue on Green by Miles Davis, i was perplexed by the piano playing on it, so since then my Evans collection has got to 18 albulms. New conversations is probably my own favourite. Song for Helen is played like it's Evans last ever song to the great producer Helen Keane. Then he slips in a more up tempo cheerfull number in Nobody else but me,probably the only uptempo song on the albulm. Then theres the beautiful rolling melodies of i love my wife. My own perssonal favourite is Remembering the rain,so elegent and emotional, it is pure piano melodies so gentle. This is a must for all those Evans fans who like his moody late night songs. This album is the greatest performed by the greatest."

"I know this album (vynil long play) since I was a teenager.

I think This album proves that Bill Evans is to Jazz what Bach was to classical music. His music is sophisticated, analytical and also very beautiful."

"Not sure why, but for some reason this CD doesn't get much respect in Bill circles. Maybe it was the copious over-dubbing, maybe it's just too upbeat and accessible, I don't know. But this is Bill at his most positive and introspective. In fact, if I had to pick I'd say this recording would be my "stranded on desert island" fav. And I have about 25 of his recordings. If you like this CD you should also check out The Bill Evans Album. Another under-rated gem, also lighter and more upbeat."
