"I have been a fan of Bill Frisell since I first heard him play on Fluid Russell by Eberhardt Weber in 1979. Alas, this record which was I believe his second solo for ECM is dominated by the brass/wind instruments. Frisell began his musical journey as a clarinet player in a marching band. Perhaps his relation to winds and brass has never left him. He has created music in many configurations and contexts. As a seeker of versatility, he is successful. I prefer the trio format he has used throughout his career. Some people will take their Frisell anyway they can,So this might be a welcome addition to a large Frisell collection. I think Fris is a team player, and he always lets his coplayers find room in his recordings to shine. Those fond of brass and Frisell will like this more than me."
