"Interestingly enough, I heard this CD last out of most of the Gaither albums. Honestly, the reason I picked it up was to see how good they would sound without David Phelps. I was very impressed. And you all know how I think David's voice is tops in any category. Jonathan Pierce does a great job of blending with the other voices and doing solos. I give him my stamp of high approval. The song selection is excellent. Instrumentation is excellent. Recording work was done well. Vocal blend with music is excellent as the music never overpowers any of the vocals. On a few songs, the bass guitar levels are a little too high in volume and bass presence. Mixing and mastering was pretty good, as were the vocal dynamics. All the vocals sound pretty consistent from song to song. This is often not the case with their other offerings, except "I DO BELIEVE." Gaither tends to record different songs at different studios (Im not sure why). This CD blows away their most current offering ('Everything Good'). Not that "Everything Good" is bad but on every level mentioned above, this CD surpasses it by leaps and bounds. The 'I do Believe' album from Gaither was my favorite and the standard by which I measure many group vocal albums. This album often matches the quality of "I Do Believe" and at certain times may even surpass it. I listen carefully to whatever music is placed in front of me (I've been producing, mastering, mixing, and recording professional albums for 20+ years). Out with the new, in with the old. This one's a treasure."
