A mix of Billie Jo's own hits and covers

"Billie Jo Spears is remembered for some classic country songs including Blanket on the ground, 57 Chevrolet, What I've got in mind and Sing me an old fashioned song, three of the songs featured on this collection. However, notable omissions include Lonely hearts club and Love ain't gonna wait for us.
Most of this album consists of Billie Jo's covers of songs made famous by others including What the world needs bow is love (Jackie De Shannon), I fall to pieces (Patsy Cline), Heartaches by the number (Guy Mitchell), Always on my mind (first recorded by Brenda Lee, but a big seventies hit for Elvis Presley, in the eighties the song became a major hit in the UK for the Pet Shop Boys and n the USA for Willie Nelson), Rose garden (Lynn Anderson), Harper valley PTA (Jeannie C Riley), Stand by your man (Tammy Wynette), I will survive (Gloria Gaynor - Billie Jo's version became a country hit), Misty blue (originally a country hit for Eddy Arnold but more famous via Dorothy Moore's international pop hit), Bridge over troubled water (Simon and Garfunkel), I love you because (a major UK hit for Jim Reeves), Paper roses (a major UK hit for Marie Osmond) and two Kris Kristofferson songs (For the good times, Help me make it through the night). Billie Jo performs all these songs - and the others - superbly.
Although this is not the definitive Billie Jo Spears hits collection, it provides a good sampling of her music."
