This recording from 1975 is crisp and clear, capturing the sensitivity of the performance perfectly.
Wellstood is simply superb on every number. Butterfield, who was surely inspired by Wellstood's brilliance, is in fine form as well. "Duet" is strongly recommended to fans of Dick Wellstood and to those who appreciate the intimate side of traditional jazz. I like the performance better than Wellstood's duets with Bob Wilber and I give it 5 stars just to hear Billy Butterfield up close and personal." |
