One of the all-time classics

"Perhaps one of the 5 most important and influential jazz-rock albums of all time. Of course "Stratus" and "Red Baron" are now fusion classics, but Spectrum also contains some tunes that are not as well known but are among Billy Cobham's best; "Le Lis" (which has one of Jan Hammer's best Minimoog solos) and the title track, which features Ron Carter and the Brecker Brothers. I swear I've listened to this record so much that it is part of my DNA. If you don't know this record then drop everything and order it right now."
What an eye opener

"I was with my brother in 1973, sitting around with his band after a rehearsal when the guitar player brought out "Spectrum" and played it for us. I had never heard of Billy Cobham or fusion before and from the first song on I was blown away by this group and style of play. The drumming was awesome and the rest of the group only made it better. This exposure to fusion changed my life. It became one of my favorite styles of music and it all started with this album. If you are into fusion or you are a drummer, you, I think, will enjoy this album."

"This has to be 1 of the top 5 fusion discs of all time. Possibly the 2nd best, I gotta give Miles his due when he did Tribute to Jack Johnson.
Hammer was never better than when he worked on Billy's solo albums.
The MO has the finest body of work (with Billy of course)and their concerts were extraordinary in deed.
