Quite a good album, but it got ignored!

"Billy Yates has been a songwriter for a long time, and he writes good songs. He came out with his debut album, and it doesn't disappoint. I like "I Smell Smoke", his debut single, but unfortunately, it went nowhere on the charts. His second single, "Flowers", is an awesome song about the price a man paid for drunk driving, and him killing the woman he loved in the process is what it took for him to bring her flowers. Then there is the song "Choices", which was later recorded and became the comeback hit for George Jones. A good song about recognizing the choices you make and how they impact you. Good album! Get it if you can find it."

A must for any music fan

"I'm not a hard-core country fan by any stretch of the imagination. Came upon this disc while checking out some of the new acts on Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss' Almo Sounds label. My conclusion: there isn't a mediocre song on this album. It holds your interest throughout. And if you'd never bought a country record before, this would be your first time. My favorite track is "Broken Hearted Me," if I've got to choose one. Billy Yates creates incredible music with universal appeal. Let's hear more soon."
