"Bison B.C. first caught my attention with Quiet Earth in 2008, as something of a Mastodon side-show. Talented guys from Vancouver with beards and extinct animal moniker, but not exactly masto-rip-offs. These guys create some thunder. Sludge is the term I think that best describes their metal leanings, but there are moments of thrash and hardcore that stimulate the proceedings. The incarnation of Bison on this current cd, Dark Ages, is mostly about pummeling you. That's right, they know just how to hit you to keep you coming back for more. High on Fire comparisons are warranted as songs tend to burn and scorch around the edges, making you listen to the entire album, rather than song skip. High on Fire also deserves a mention because much of this cd could have come right off any of their releases. But hey, what the hell right? There is plenty of room in my music collection for bong crazy, bearded, ex-punks, obsessed with riffs and extinct animals. This is fantastic sludge metal with a bit of and aggresive edge for you and me, friends."
