Synopsis

Album Description
2009 album from the Rap duo. With over 16 years in the business, Redman & Method Man are certifiable Rap superstars with a devoted fan-base that spans the globe. The secret to their longevity as one of Rap's longest lasting duos is due in part to the fact that the two emcees bring fun to Hip Hop. Hardly taking themselves too seriously, Red & Meth have always been about `good times' and carefree humor, as evidenced on their debut album Blackout! (1999) and the follow-up How High Soundtrack (2001). Their comedic personalities allowed them to transition to the big screen in the cult classic film How High (2001) as well as the small screen with the sitcom Method & Red (2004). Online fans are asking when the next Red & Meth album is coming out. Clearly, Hip Hop's counter to guns & gangsterism still has a place in the hearts of fans.

The Long Awaited Sequel From Meth and Red (4.5 Stars)
Jeffrey A. Lunt | 05/19/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Method Man has been my favorite Wu-Tang Clansmen since 1993. So perhaps I am biased in my views....

In the early nineties, Wu-Tang music was dirty, gritty, and wholly original. But sadly, too many imitators copied the Wu-Tang style, forcing the Clansmen to evolve and change their unique sound in order to stay ahead of the game. These evolutions and changes have divided Wu-heads since 1997. Regardless of these divisions, the Osirus of the Clansmen, Ol' Dirty Bastard, declared, "Wu-Tang is here forever."

Truth be told, I prefer Method Man's solo efforts, such as "Tical" or "4:21 - The Day After." That said, Method Man's collaboration album with Redman was a wonderful mix of Wu-Tang and Def Squad sensibilities and expertise. There was never a dull moment when Meth and Red blessed the mic back in 1999.

"Blackout! 2" arrives over ten years later. "Blackout! 2" is almost as hot (and almost as smoky) as its predecessor. The formula is familiar. Like their first collaboration album, "Blackout! 2" is a celebration of blunts and broads. Meth and Red rip through clever lyrics over unique, Wu-banging beats. What more could you want?

Is this joint as dirty, gritty, and as wholly original as "Blackout!"? (I don't think so.) Is it a display of witty, unpredictable talent, and natural game? (Well...I'll let you decide.) "Blackout! 2" is definitely a genuine Wu-banger. Light `em up boys.

This joint is perfect for your next party (inasmuch as the party attendees know the difference between good music and 50 Cent). This is true hip-hop, in an age of s---y copy cats and talent-less shark biters.

If you're a fan of Hot Nikkels and Funk Doc, cop this joint after you cop their first album. As for me...I'm hoping "Blackout! 2" will grow on me during these next ten years.

Wu-Tang forever. Peace."
Finally Funk Doc & Mr. Mef return

"Method Man & Redman return after almost 10 years since their last collabo album and 7 ½ years since their "How High Soundtrack" with a very solid 4 star album. After being in the rap game for 16+ years most know what to expect when these 2 get on the mic and when they collaborate on songs. I think this album is a notch aboue the first "Blackout!" album (which I'd also give 4 stars). I do like their solo works better than their collaboration albums, most of their solo's I'd give 4.5 stars. This one has some funnier tracks and some smoking tracks as well as some nice lyrical ones too. Of the 15 songs, 2 are ok and the other 13 are good or real good songs but there is no classics on here. Guests are on 4 songs rapping and doing the chorus on 4 others. Production is solid as well. Rockwilder & Erick Sermon each do 2 songs, Bink One!, King David, Havoc, Pete Rock, Swiff D, Nasty Kutt, Ty Fyffe, and Buckwild all do 1 song. A nice album to have from 2 hip-hop veterans.

"This cd is great redman and methodman showed everybody that ten years is nothin in there case. They came back better than ever this cd is a platinum cd it should not go gold. I say if this cd goes gold and not platinum fans let them down. there frist cd balckout 1 went platinum so this one is real good to. I like to say for it being ten years since there frist blackout redman and methodman lost nothing they have the same swager for ten years. To tell you they truth if redman and methodman didnt make a new cd in 20 years they still be the same nothing want change with them. To everybody buy the cd its all worth it you will enjoy this cd a lot every song keeps you into the cd and wonder what redman and mathodman may do next on the cd. they are on top like they were ten years ago with balckout 1.
