Blake Shelton is the perfect contemporary country artist. His rich baritone voice allows him to bounce between traditional-sounding honky tonk material, big romantic power ballads, and pure country with relative ease.

"1. Green
This song has both a great sound and beat. It will surely make any American farmer nod in agreement ... 'cause after all, they were "green before green was a thing". Not seeing Al Gore downloading this song to his ipod. : o ~
2. Good At Startin' Fires
Only took me 5 seconds to decide I was a gonna love this song. It sort of reminds me of 80's country. And hmmm . . . I have NO IDEA who was the inspiration behind this tune. *wink*{Miranda Lambert just so ya know. *wink*} CMA stages aren't the only thing my girl has set on fire!
3. She Wouldn't Be Gone
Blake's first and current hit off the album. It is unlike anything I've heard him perform. I love it love it love it and can't see myself gettin' sick of it anytime soon! I have no idea who wrote the song but I'd love to give 'em a pat on the back. ;o) Creatively written.
4. I'll Hold On
Here, Blake sings about an intoxicating love that has no future. Good song.
5. 100 Miles
Lookin'-back-and-realizing-you-had-the-real-thing-all-along songs never get old 'cause folks never stop messing up love.
6. Never Lovin' You
What I like to call "laid-back-honky-tonk" rock. =)
7. Country Strong
Explains why all those farm boys were so cute growing up; both physically and otherwise. *wink* A great salute to our farmers and the great women behind the farmers.
8. Home Sweet Home
This song is all about just being proud of where you come from. I see this song played out in my town every day.
9. This Is Gonna Take All Night
All I have to say about this song is, "Well, now ...*hint hint wink wink*"
10. Here I Am
This song just makes me smile 'cause it reminds me of falling in love. Very nice.
11. I Don't Care
Lyrically, this song is my favorite on the album. And it's beautiful too. Heck, I'll just say it ... I recommend that you listen to track first. It's start off very melancholy but there's a twist ... and it's just too good, so listen carefully. :o)
12. Bare Skin Rug
Ohh, 'tis the song the record label never wanted to be. LOL When I read this, I thought, whatever for? . . . How bad could it be?! . . . It's Blake and Miranda around a campfire . . . unplugged! Well . . . *giggles* . . . after listening to it I can somewhat understand their hesitation. But they both sound great. In a world of sterotypes, if someone outside the country music genre were to write a country song, I imagine it would sound a whole heck like this. (Minus the change of one word.)You'll see why. LOL It's hilarious! Hey, even hillbillies need a lil' love. ;o)
********
I hope this album gets the recognition it deserves. There was no doubt that Blake has one of the finest voices in country music today. This album full of solid songs will showcase his rich voice. Enjoy!

"I liked his last album, but I love this one! I wanted to stop half-way through my first listen to review it with 5 stars. Now I've played it every day since I bought it. The lyrics are great. More importantly, the melodies are more intricate that the songs you hear on the radio. A single song will have four or five hooks, not the usual one, so you just want to play the cd over again."

"I'm not even that big of a country music fan in general, but I've been hooked on Blake Shelton ever since I saw him in concert for the first time after the release of Barn & Grill. Now I've got every one of his albums... they are just so much fun to listen to.
Anyways, Barn & Grill had been my favorite album far and away to this point, but Startin' Fires may have overtaken it. This is a well done, fun album all the way through with catchy tunes that'll make you want to jump up and dance. My favorites are Green, Startin' Fires, and Country Strong, but there isn't a single song to skip over throughout the disc.
I don't care what you normally listen to... buy this CD, stick it in your stereo, and see if you can make yourself take it out!"
FINALLY!

"Finally, my new Blake Shelton CD has arrived!!! I just received it and can't want to hear all of the songs on this CD. I've already fallen in love with, "She Wouldn't Be Gone." Love the video, too.
Make sure to pick up his other CD's. Not a bad song on one of them.
I'll get back to you later on how the rest of the CD is.
But until then...GO BLAKE!!!!!
UPDATE DECEMBER 11TH, 2008.
I'm back and have been listening to the new Blake Shelton CD. I can now add, Green, to my list of songs that I love by Blake. It's so catchy; you won't be able to stop listening to it.
Hey Blake, if you're out there, I'd love to see, "You're The Reason God Made Oklahoma", with you and Miranda, make it on a CD one day. I'd snatch it up in a second. I love the video on YouTube, with the both of you singing it. I only wish I could purchase it. And not anyone one will do...It has to be you and Miranda singing it.

AWESOME!
