Amazon.comThere are few greater proponents of old-school metal than Blaze Bayley. As Live As It Gets recorded live in 2002 in Switzerland and the UK, includes six tracks apiece from Blaze's Silicon Messiah and Tenth Dimension, plus a couple of punkier Wolfsbane numbers, three epics from his Iron Maiden years, and a portentous take on Led Zeppelin's "Dazed and Confused." The performances are consistently tight and powerful, thanks in part to the production of Andy Sneap. And Bayley himself is at his best, inflaming and cajoling the crowd while roaring thought-provoking anthems concerning the likes of uncontrolled technological advancement, government manipulation, and time and space. Bayley was always closer to original Maiden vocalist Paul DiAnno than Bruce Dickinson, which he proves once more with this rough-and-ready offering. --Dominic Wills
