BLESS THE BRIDE
06/23/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"For musical theater fans,"Bless the Bride" is one of the truly great treasures of the British musical. Not only does it feature all the stars of the original production but, as usual, AEI has found virtually the entire score with the theater orchestra which - until this release, was never before available. Produced in the same year as the present Queen Elizabeth was married, it was a huge success, even in the face of American imports from Broadway. Considering its sheer rarity, the sound quality is first class, any clicks and surface noise from the original transcription discs have been expertly (and one supposes, expensively!) removed. For the collector of Musical Theater recordings it is a "must" and I recommend it highly."

"This is an exquisite treasure - a totally absorbing trip into the past. Nothing could more clearly demonstrate the consummate charisma of it's stars Lizbeth Webb and Georges Guétary, not forgetting Brian Reece (remember him as PC 49?). Everyone who has an interest in the musical theatre MUST have this recording."
