Album DescriptionFormed in 1982 in Michigan, Blight was created in the wake of The Fix, one of the earliest bands of the Midwest hardcore scene. Steve Miller (guitar) and Mike Achtenberg (bass) met with Tesco Vee (lead singer of The Meatmen), and added Pat Clark on drums. Staying together a mere four months, they only put out a 7-inch (recorded in 1982 and released on Touch And Go the following year), and played only five live shows. This CD contains the Blight EP, a pair of four-track demos, and live recordings from a July 1982 appearance in Detroit with The Dead Kennedys. This is the sum total of Blight's recorded legacy. Blight sounds like machinery set in motion. Punctuated by a wash of pure industrial noise and the electrified tones of Tesco's trumpet. Their sound and energy was visceral, intimidating, artful, and completely essential.
