"Enjoying this fantastic CD makes one wish to have been born sooner when Blind Willie McTell was alive and available to perform at will. How nice to see and hear him alive and full of improvisation. The soul of McTell comes through as vividly as possible in this CD along with buddy Curley Weaver. It is clear that his life was rough and that he had lived it to the fullest. If this CD were a bottle of fine wine you would share it with all of your friends and they would thank you forever!"
A brilliant, but sadly uncredited master of the blues.

"For the money, it gets no better than "Pig N'Whistle Red." By the time he recorded these sessions for Regal Records, he was 51 years old and displayed an emotive sensitivity that transcends just about any other country blues recording ever made. For the sake of pure feeling alone, I rank this one on the same level as the best recordings from Coltrane, Miles and Monk. A simply brilliant expression of Piedmont style blues. Buy this CD!"
