"I wasn't sure if I want to get this album after some reviews mentioned that their sound was Irish folk punk rock with a bit of ska. I do listen to ska but blending the three different genres might have over done it. I was wrong. It worked out very well. The other reviews are correct on another thing, if you think this band is anything like Dropkick Murphys or Flogging Molly, these guys are not even close. I did find a few other bands that are similiar. Look for the McGuillicuddys or The Skels. Very similiar in sound. Anyhow, can't wait for the next release."
REAL Irish roots music

"If you like real Irish roots music ie. The Pogues, The Dubliners, buy this CD. If you're more into over produced pseudo punk bands like Flogging Molly or Dropkick Murphy's, then don't. Blood or Whiskey are very good songwriters who mainly play trad Irish instruments. This is great drinking music, and is perfect for arond St. Paddy's Day and all year long."

"This is a lot more melodious than something by Dropkick Murphies. I'm not Irish, so I can't identify the instruments, but they are surely Irish. No overwhelming electric guitars here. The two lead singers have deep, gravelly voices, but they sound good. "Frank" is funny but scary because you can see it happening. The tune is my personal favorite, but there's not a bad sound in the bunch. As one who likes a wide variety of music, including Celtic, Ska, Baroque, New Age, and Gregorian Chants, I now add . . . what, Irish Punk? Who knows. Try it, you like it. And if you go to their website, you can hear the tunes."

"Without a doubt, Blood or Whiskey is my favorite group of all time. The music is catchy and I find that I can't get it out of my head. The lead singer has a very deep raspy voice, and unlike Dropkick or Flogging Molly, Blood or Whiskey are actually based out of Ireland and have a real Irish flair. Blood or Whiskey tend to steer clear of obnoxious guitar riffs and instead stick to banjo and mandolin solos, and some amazing penny whistle solos. Truely a great Irish band with flare and talent."

"Blood Or Whiskey are far better than the overrated Flogging Molly. They have a pure irish sound that just makes you wanna jump up and skank around like a lunatic. This has to be my fav. irish influenced cd.The standouts on this baby are the songs "Chloe" and "When You Sing"."Chloe" just wants to make you sing along to the chorus of it.And "When You Sing" is THE BEST song to sing along to if your sad or mad, the catchy chorus "Let your pain just leave you when you sing she said" is like therapy for a hurt soul. However the reason i gave it 4 stars is that it is SOO much irish influenced that it might turn some people away.If your thinking that it is like "Dropkick Murphys" or "Flogging Molly" you might be dissapointed because it does not have barely any regular guitar in it like the other 2 bands i said.Download the 2 songs that i stated above and if you dont like those two i wouldnt say this cd is for you.Other than that its a great pick up for getting drunk and singing along to."
