"Every bit the musical equal of the first or second record. (I'll be happy to hear criticisms of "Symphony/Sympathy for the Devil" if you can send me a detailed transposed score of the transcription first.) The politics of the time (along with some apparent and not atypical meddling by the Nixon Administration and/or the burgeoning rock press that Frank Zappa so justly despised) helped stunt the Billboard chart position.
I started playing the trumpet the MONTH that "Lucretia McEvil" was at the top of the charts. For the most part, popular music has been (by comparison, Steely Dan, the Doobs, War, Maynard Ferguson and a couple of others excepted) a sore disappointment ever since.
Also, If you haven't heard the SACD, you haven't really heard this record!
Unconditionally recommended. Twelve Stars!"
