Synopsis

Album Description
"A rich character assessment [by a] sharp eye." -- American Songwriter Nashville-based singer-songwriter collective Blue Eyed Blacks (a name originally derived from The Jesus & Mary Chain lyrics), release their debut album on Chicken Ranch. The band is fronted by Louisiana native Jason Moon Wilkins, a fixture of the Nashville music scene for years in various roles: as an artist (with former Dedicated records band toybean), a bassist (for Josh Rouse, Garrison Starr, and others), a DJ, a tour manager, a festival organizer, and more. After a lengthy hiatus away from the spotlight, Wilkins brings his own songs back to the fore with an amazing debut album produced by Neilson Hubbard (Glen Phillips, Matthew Perryman Jones). Jason Moon Wilkins has certainly seen some ridiculous incidents during his music career. Back in his first band, The Rest, he experienced everything from major label attention to a tour cancellation after the drummer's girlfriend sold his drum kit for crack and lead singer Kevin Travis' incarceration as an accomplice to second degree murder (whew...). At the climax of it all, Wilkins decided to make the move to Nashville and made himself a regular fixture in the Nashville music scene. After a long break from the music scene he has finally returned, this time forming his own music project and recruiting many artists he had worked with in the past to help him with his dream. Two years in the marking, this record features special guests that include folk-rock artist Garrison Starr, vocalist Betsy Roo (who co-wrote the Dolly Parton song "Jesus & Gravity"), Justin Townes Earle (Bloodshot Records), Billy Mercer (Ryan Adams), Rollum Haas (The Features, Brendan Benson), John Deaderick (Patty Griffin, Michael McDonald), and a slew of others.
