Great Gosh! A Christmas Smorgasborg!

"Let me share something with you hepkitties and kats that dawned on me while writing this review. Its 1998 (yes 1998), and theres this struggling roots rock band from Indiana, on a tiny indie label, getting ready to record their second album for public consumption. In their eyes, this could be the one that gets them noticed by a major label, and off the beaten path of exhaustive one night stands in any club that will pay them, in any burg that will have them. And if their lucky, they can afford something a little more substantial in their bellies than truck stops . So, after reading this far, we can all only imagine the looks the Blue Moon Boys got, when announcing they would be recording a Christmas album as their crucial 2nd release! What sets "The RocknRoll Christmas Show" apart from the rest of the yuletide fare, is not the stereotypical Elvis standards (fully expected from a rockabilly band), or even the smoking originals like "Santa-Billy Boogie", which they could perform in July and still bring the house down. What gave this disc a 5-star rating was their truly wonderful rendition of "The Santa Suite", a melody of all those lesser known songs from the 60's/70's like "The Island Of Misfit Toys" and "We Are Santas Elves", from the Christmas TV special, "Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer". Also, regards must go out to Nic Roulette for his outstanding vocal manipulations. Not many singers can go from Eddie Cochran and Blind Lemon Jefferson to Jeff Foxworthy and Wattie (from The Exploited) so effortlessly."
Great for All Ages

"As a rockabilly fan who enjoys the holidays, this was a must. Turned out to be even better than expected. The boys go from a good traditional version of Silent Night to a wacky God Rest Ye Merry Surfpunks. My favorites are the solid rockabilly versions of Here Comes Santa Claus, Let It Snow, No Place Like Home and Up on the Housetop. But the highlights are the songs from childrens' Christmas specials, such as We are Santa's Elves and The Island of Misfit Toys. My 8-year-old granddaughter liked it so much, had to get a second copy for her. Note: She liked the rockers better than the childrens songs, with her favorite Run, Run Rudolph."
